Former President, Chief Olusegun Obasanjo has said that the vacuum left by the late former Ogun State Secretary to the Government (SSG) and Head of Service (HoS), Deacon Poju Adeyemi would be hard to replace.
Obasanjo stated this on Tuesday, while paying condolence visit on the wife of the late two term SSG, Mrs Florence Bosede Adeyemi at the deceased’s family house, Ibara GRA, Abeokuta.
The former President, who only returned from Dubai earlier in the day, arrived the residence at about 11.05am and was received and ushered in by the deceased’s children, including, Bayo, Femi and Toyin and a former Head of Service (HoS), Elder Olusola Adeyemi.
Obasanjo was later joined by Mrs. Adeyemi at the family living room, where prayers were personally conducted by President Obasanjo for the repose of the dead.
Speaking with newsmen after signing the condolence register, Obasanjo described late Adeyemi as “a responsible, disciplined and an honest citizen of Ogun state, who served his family, friends, community and the state creditably well. He is what I will say my specimen of civil servant. We don’t have them now as we did in those days.
“He left a legacy that would be hard to replace. It will be difficult to fill his vacuum. He was a gentleman, who will compromise his stand to bring peace in all situations. He was a good religious man, who contributed to the development of the Church.
“Though he was not a politician from the beginning, but, when he joined politics, he was an astute politician and a gentleman,” Obasanjo disclosed.
The late elder statesman died last Thursday at the age of 80.
