A governorship aspirant in Ogun State, Otunba Olatunde Rotimi Paseda has explained the delay why he is yet to make public, the political party to achieve his next governorship ambition come 2019.
Paseda stated this on Sunday while receiving the Ijebu Agenda Ambassadors at his country home, Omu-Ijebu, saying that he is yet to decide on the platform to use following the crisis that has engulfed many of the political parties.
He maintained that, as readily accepted political personality in the country, going with an unserious or potentially crisis ridden or an already crisis-ridden party may spell doom for his pedigree and ambition.
It would be recalled that Paseda was the candidate of the Unity Party of Nigeria (UPN) in the 2015 general elections in Ogun State.
But unknown to many, the Omu-Ijebu born politician has intensified his consultation on the platform which he would use to contest the next year’s general elections in the state.
Rumour miffed last week that, the politician has joined Social Democratic Party, SDP, but no official statement from his camp.
But the business mogul hinted that, he is considering only the best platform with winning chances and receptive to coalescing with other political parties for his governorship ambition.
When contacted, Paseda’s Media Assistant, Michael-Azeez Ogunsiji, maintained that, Paseda is exploring many options for his 2019 ambition, saying once a decision is made, an official declaration would be made to the general public.
He said, “what Paseda is doing right now is exploring modalities of coalesce for Ogun governorship 2019 and once a final decision is reached, we will rightly make an official statement to either take it forward or not.
“Paseda is exploring his options and will continue to explore his options for 2019 as one of the very few credible, readily accepted, liked and most popular political factor in Ogun state politics today”, Ogunsiji stressed.
But an unconfirmed reports widely circulating in Abeokuta metropolis at the weekend has it that, Paseda is being headhunted as the clean, uncontroversial and fresh option by stakeholders of some three political parties but is most likely to emerge as the candidate of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) as the “Whizkid” of Governor Ibikunle Amosun.
