2019:Why I’m contesting Oriade/Obokun Federal Constituency Seat – Engr. Akinbola Fatiregun

As the race towards the 2019 general elections gathers momentum, one of the top notch engineers in Nigeria, Engr. Akinbola Fatiregun, the Managing Director/CEO of Hardrock Construction and Engineering Company Limited, Lagos, has publicly expressed intention to contest the Oriade/Obokun Federal Constituency seat in Osun State saying his goal is to fast track socio-economic development to his people.

Engr. Akinbola Fatiregun, a certified member of the Council for the Regulation of Engineering in Nigeria (COREN) is a distinguished Petroleum Engineering graduate from the University of Port Harcourt. As a renowned Nigerian petroleum engineer, Fatiregun has years of experience in exploration and production (Oil and Gas). He has track record with discoveries and increased reserves, particularly during his industry operations at Atlantic Marine and Oil Services, Ikoyi, Lagos where he was the HSE Coordinator in charge of all Health, safety and environment as regard the company’s operations. His responsibilities, among others, included the upgrading, reworking, servicing, testing all kinds of natural gas processing engineering equipment. In addition, he has specialist skills in risk mitigation and quantitative risk assessment.

The All Progressives Congress (APC) top notcher told Africana International over the weekend that his passion for humanity has been the driving force for his noble intention to seek the people’s mandate to go to the National Assembly in the next political dispensation.

“My desire to serve is borne out of my passion for the good people of our Federal Constituency,” he said, explaining that even though lots of developments have been recorded in Osun State under the present leadership of the amiable Governor Rauf Aregbesola, much of works are still yearning for attention in the Oriade/Obokun Constituency, particularly at the Federal level.

Engr. Fatiregun, in his Letter of Intent and Request for Support, which has been widely circulated by his Campaign Organisation to stakeholders across Oriade/Obokun Federal Constituency, has aptly reeled out his vision for the citizens of the constituency.

The Letter of Intent, copies of which were also made available to journalists, read in part: “At the level of our Federal Constituency (Oriade/Obokun), much work is left to be done in the areas of Farmers assistance, youth empowerment, creation of enduring environment for business to thrive and medical outreach for the rural and urban people.

“My core mandate will be to assist our people in these core areas mentioned. I am fully aware that the business of making laws is a very serious one. Our people should be assured of effective representation on the floor of the National Assembly.

“A close look at our Federal Constituency will show a constituency that is almost neglected by the Federal Government. You can be rest assured that with me as your representative many Federal Government projects and institutions will be attracted to our constituency.”

Aside Atlantic Marine and Oil Services where he had operated meritoriously, Engr. Fatiregun also has the record of working as a Field Engineer at Cranfield Project Ltd, where he was the team leader and the onsite company representative. He was the first point of contact for the customers and was responsible for the multi-million dollars equipment with which his team worked on the physically and mentally demanding job of bringing hydrocarbons to market.

And presently as the Managing Director/CEO of Hardrock Construction and Engineering Company Ltd., Engr. Fatiregun is saddled with the responsibilities of designing drilling equipment, estimating costs and returns on newly discovered oil and gas fields, laying out flow control and fluid transfer systems and planning and auditing active drilling. He also supervises schedules, costs, and plans, develops all operations associated with drilling oil and gas wells. He is always in the picture for each stage, initial design to testing to completion to abandonment. He works on drilling units that are mobile, offshore platforms or land, implement and plan all phases of drilling activities, well completions and well operations, coordinate with land and geological department personnel for selection of drilling site, review cost estimates, supervises and monitor operation activities.

One noticeable attribute of Engr. Akinbola Fatiregun is the fact that he is a remarkable professional who likes being on his toes and facing challenges squarely with focus always to be on top of his career. And his Motto is ‘ready to go’ believing that Success is paramount
