32-Year-Old Sentenced to 30 Months for Stealing N9.8m Worth of Property in Lagos

 

A 32-year-old man, Jibril Idenyi, has been sentenced to two and a half years in prison by a Lagos State Magistrate Court for stealing property valued at N9.8 million.

Magistrate Oluwatosin Erinle convicted Idenyi after finding him guilty of stealing and receiving stolen goods. Idenyi was arraigned on March 5, 2024, on four counts of conspiracy, stealing, and receiving stolen property.

According to the police prosecutor, Inspector Cyriacus Osuji, Idenyi and others (now at large) conspired to steal three Mikano generators worth N9 million, a Honda motorcycle valued at N500,000, and a 40-inch plasma television worth N300,000 from Green Nigeria Limited on March 19, 2023, at Agabi Adiesu Street, Lekki Phase 1.

The court found the convict guilty on two counts of stealing and receiving stolen property under the Criminal Laws of Lagos State, 2015.

Magistrate Erinle sentenced Idenyi to two years on the second count and six months on the third, with the terms to run concurrently, starting from his arrest on August 8, 2023. The convict will serve his sentence at the Ikoyi Correctional Centre.
