48 Year old trader defiles a minor in Lagos

Operatives of Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps Lagos State Command Arrested a 48 year old man, Mr Charles Ekwe by its gender based units for sexually abused of a minor.

The incident happened on the 12th of October, 2020 and the victim is a niece to the wife of the suspect who resides with them
at No.1B Surulere Street, Ojo area of Lagos State.

The suspect started abusing the 13 years old victim before the Covid -19 locked down and she was afraid and scared to report the incident to her aunty.

Bada Kehinde Mary,the command Public Relations Officer confirmed the incident through a press statement that the victim said she calls the suspect ”daddy” who started assaulting her sexually early this year .

The victims said that once her aunty left the house he start molesting her sexually. “Any time i am at his shop where he trades I do not have peace my uncle keep abusing me,he exposed me to different style of pornography pictures on his phone and threatened to kill her if i inform anybody about the act”.

The assault have occured on several occasions that she can remember to counts.

Kehide said,the victim’s aunty, Mrs Blessing Ekwe, stated that her niece has been living with them for the past four years after the death of my brother, the victim’s father.

About three weeks ago i noticed the way my Niece was walking not happy as usual i had to question her to know what is wrong with her, immediately she open up that for sometime now my husband has been abusing her sexually and threaten to kill me if i disclosed what is going on to any body that i will die, i have to take her to hospital for medical examination and it was confirmed that she has been defiled.

The suspect admitted in committing the crime but claimed he only fondled her genitals and made her to watch pornography pictures on his phone.

The commandant ,Mr Ayeni Paul, said the suspect will face the full wrath of the law and will be handed over to the appropriate agency for further investigation and prosecution.

Ayeni ,stated that this is a heinous crime and all perpetuators of such when caught will be made to pay dearly.

Reiterating ,the corps readiness to combat crime in the state and also they will not rest on it’s oars in ensuring a crime free Lagos.

Also the gender based Unit of the Corp is saddled with the responsibility of handling rape, domestic violence, sexual assault and defilement as well as child abuse cases have well trained officers to handle such cases and enjoined the populace to feel free to make such reports.
