Aare Akinrogun of Ibadanland, Lt Gen. Tukur Buratai Rtd.Pays Homage to Olubadan,Preaches Cultural Diplomacy
Sahara Weekly Reports That The Former Chief of Army Staff Lt General Tukur Yusufu Buratai on Friday visited Olubadan of Ibadanland Oba Senator Olalekan Alli.
Buratai who is in Ibadan to deliver a public lecture at the University of Ibadan Alumni Centre today said he decied to pay homage to the monarch and his chiefs as part of the effort to promote cultural unity in Nigeria, and to also seek the Olubadan Royal blessing.
The former Ambassador to Benin Republic who also holds the Title of Aare Akinrogun of Ibadanland was recieved at the palace by the foremost traditional ruler, members of his Advisory Council including Oba Hamidu Ajibade, the Maye Olubadan, High Chief Lekan Alabi, and the National President of President of Central Council of Ibadan Indegenes CCII Barr Niyi Ajewole.
Oba Hamidu Ajibade who spoke on behalf of the Olubadan impress it on Ambassador Buratai, the Aare Akinrogun of Ibadan land to have a house in Ibadan here, which the Ambassador responded.
President of Central Council of Ibadan Indegenes CCII Barr. Niyi Ajewole in his remark lauded the exploit of Ambassador Buratai especially the establishment of Command Science School, Saki Oyo State.
Part of Ambassador Buratai’s entourage is the Vice Chancellor, Nigerian Army University Biu, Dr Manzo Ahmed, Commodore MB Teidi (rtd), President of 29 Regular Course Foundation, the Commander 2 division Garrison, Col Emmanuel Adegbola, Comrade Oladimeji Odeyemi, Dr M S Abubakar, and some others, including the President General, University of Ibadan Alumni Association and other Executives of the association.
Meanwhile the Southern Youths Forum while commending Ambassador Buratai on his visitation to Olubadan palace said the development will promote cultural Diplomacy and unity in the country.
SYF president, Com Oladimeji Odeyemi while speaking with journalists at Olubadan’s palace maintained that General Buratai is not just an engima but a leader per excellence, a high detribalize Nigerian, a diplomat per excellence who introduced a lot of innovation and intellectualism into the Nigerian Army.
