Adesegun Adekoya Donates Buses To NUT, Harps On Inclusive, Quality Education

The Deputy Minority Whip of the House of Representatives, Abdel-Majid Adesegun Adekoya, has said that priority must be given to inclusive and quality education which will protect the future of the new generation, if the country must have sustainable development.

Adekoya made this known on Wednesday in Ago-Iwoye at the presentation of new buses to the Nigeria Union of Teachers (NUT) in Ijebu North, Ijebu East and Ogun Waterside Federal Constituency.

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) chieftain who is seeking a re-election into the House of Representatives in 2023z noted that, “we are beginning to lose the relevance of teachers in the country due to the deplorable conditions of our educational institutions”.

“I love the teaching profession because no one else could play that role effectively. The basic education is key to human existence. They lay the foundation for the growth and development of our nation”, he added.

Adekoya, however, challenged teachers to also look inward in finding the internal impediment facing the profession, adding that “it is only when a problem has been identified, that the solution could be attended to”.

He further charged teachers in the country to rise up to the expectation of making the educational system real centres of research and innovation like their foreign counterparts in the midst of present challenges.

Earlier is his remarks, Bayo Dayo, a former PDP chairman in the state, thanked Adekoya for his unflinching support to the teaching profession in the country.

According to him, the many laudable achievements of Adekoya will certainly aid his re-election bid, asking him not to relent in creating an enabling environment in his aggressive determination in making the society a better place for all.

Responding on behalf of the teachers, the 1st Vice President of the NUT in Ogun, Comrade Orukotan Meshileya, who represented the NUT chairrman, Comrade Akinola Abiodun, expressed appreciation to Adekoya for the donation of the buses.

“We are glad that Hon. Adekoya despite the enormous responsibilities and request before him could also consider teachers for the donation to aid our transportation challenges. Anyone who touches the teaching profession positively has touched every sector of the economy because there are hands of teachers in all aspect of human existence”, the NUT boss added.

Meshileya further appealed to Adekoya to expedite action on the completion of the mini stadium project in Ago Iwoye, which he said will benefit sport lovers across the state.
