.His Grace, Most Rev. (Dr.) Alfred Adewale Martins, the Archbishop of the Metropolitan Lagos, onTuesday ordained five deacons into priesthood at the St. Jude Catholic Church, Mafoluku, Oshodi, Lagos State.
The newly priests are Rev. Paul Tobechukwu Ariole, Rev. Joseph Chukwuemeka Okafor, Rev. Harrison Chinagorom Okoli, Rev. Emmanuel Emenike Onyia and Rev. Reuben Simeon Onyebuchi.
The Archbishop in his message directed the priests to continue to be faithful in what they are called to be.
He advised the newly priests to be obedient, dedicated and committed in their ministry and fulfill the purpose for which they have been called, chosen and ordained as priests.
He also tasked them to engage youths to ensure they lived healthy lifestyle, and also grow in faith and commitment to Christ.
Adewale said the month of October was dedicated to praying for all Nigerians for peace and unity and also remind us to continue in evangelism, in spreading the good news of our Lord Jesus Christ.
The Archbishop urged leaders and the Federal Government to ameliorate the current situation of insecurity in the nation.
According to him, “there is tension all over the country on insecurity; the security agencies need equipment to fight the insurgents.
” What they are using is old equipment bought over 40 years.
“The federal government should buy equipment that our soldiers and other agencies can use to fight insurgency.
“Our leaders need new direction on how to provide equipment to the agencies to win the war against the insurgents,” Adewale said
