The Acting Inspecting General of Police AIG, Adamu Shehu have warned criminals operating in Lagos/Ogun States and its environ to stayed off or face the consequences because is no longer business as usual.
AIG Adamu who is incharge of Zone 2 Headquarters, Onikan, Lagos, give the warning while parading about 100 suspected crinimals arrested at their hudeout .
This achievement was recorded after the newly inaugurated Operation Puff Adder operatives
officers who are charged to ensure zero tolerance in all form of criminality within the states and fish out bandits in their hideouts .
AIG said that those suspects arrested were members of armed robbery gang groups, kidnappers, cultists members that have been terrorizing both states .
Items recovered were 145 arms including 100 locally made guns, 45 pump action guns, 8 AK47 rifles,assorted charms and 400 live ammunition,
According to him, my officers are fully on ground to flush all the criminal activities within my zone including the herdsmen who want to cause crises in some area in order to secure lives and property.
He further said that Operation Puff Adder,which was recently launched by State Commands, was aimed at fighting crimes and criminality curbing the menace of herdsmen/farmers crises, kidnapping, armed robbers, cultism, land grabbing, rape and child abuse.
“I will be briefing the achievements on monthly and the police were ready for the tasks ahead in the protection of lives and property as they have embarked on training and retraining of officers for the tasks.“In order to achieve all these, we organized local training and retraining of our personnel on required operational skills and knowledge”
He also warned the officers on abuse and corruption that the Zone has set up monitoring and X-Squad units to ensure that the officers in patrol or essential duties work in conformity with the IGP’s directive.“Thus the Commissioner of Police in charge of Lagos and Ogun State Commands have been warned to be proactive and live up to their responsibilities as any dereliction of duty will be viewed seriously” said Adamu
