AN OPEN LETTER TO MR. PRESIDENT PROFFERING SOLUTIONS TO THE END BAD GOVERNANCE PROTEST

CHINEDU NSOFOR

Dear Mr. President,

I write this piece to you not only as a concerned citizen but as someone deeply committed to the progress and prosperity of our beloved nation. I have listened to your heartfelt address, and I share in your sorrow for the lives lost and the destruction witnessed across various states. While we all yearn for a peaceful and prosperous Nigeria, it is crucial that I address the root causes of the discontent fueling these protests. Our young people, who are the heart and soul of our nation, deserve to have their voices heard and their grievances addressed.

To this end, I propose the establishment of a national dialogue platform that is digitalized to enable our youths participate in the conversations through the use of Information Technology. This digital platform should be user-friendly, accessible, and secure, ensuring that young Nigerians from every corner of the country can engage in meaningful discussions about the future of our nation. Through social media integration, webinars, and online forums, we can harness the power of technology to bridge the gap between the government and the youth, fostering a spirit of inclusivity and collaboration.

In addition to the digital platform, it is equally important to hold regular physical meetings in various regions. These gatherings would provide a space for face-to-face interactions, where young people can express their concerns, share their ideas, and work together with government representatives to create actionable solutions. By rotating these meetings across different states, we can ensure that the voices of our youth are not only heard but valued and acted upon, no matter their geographical location.

While I commend the youth empowerment and social safety net initiatives you have already put in place, it is essential that we ensure their transparent and accountable management to produce the desired results. In education, we must invest in modernizing our schools, providing adequate training for teachers, and offering scholarships to deserving students. In agriculture, we need to support young farmers with access to land, resources, and modern farming techniques to boost productivity and create employment opportunities. Job creation initiatives should focus on skills development, vocational training, and entrepreneurship support to equip our youths with the tools they need to succeed in a rapidly changing economy.

Furthermore, it is imperative that we cut down the cost of governance to the barest minimum. Reducing unnecessary expenditures and ensuring that public funds are used efficiently will free up resources that can be redirected towards critical areas such as healthcare, education, and infrastructure development. This not only enhances public trust but also demonstrates our commitment to prudent financial management.

Lastly, I urge a thorough investigation into the constituency projects of all National Assembly members. It is essential to ensure that the trillions of naira voted and padded into the budget for these projects are not misappropriated. Transparent audits and stringent oversight mechanisms should be implemented to guarantee that these funds are used for their intended purposes, bringing tangible benefits to our communities.

Mr. President, the path to a prosperous Nigeria lies in our ability to listen to our people, especially our youths, and address their concerns with sincerity and action. Let us seize this moment to build a nation where every citizen feels valued, heard, and empowered to contribute to our collective success.

Thank you for your attention, and I look forward to seeing the positive changes that will undoubtedly arise from these initiatives.

God bless the Federal Republic of Nigerian,

Amen!
