APC has penned down Christian members to lead its presidential campaign council
According to reports that barring any last minute politicking, Plateau Governor, Simon Lalong will be named Director-General of APC campaign council.
Other Christians who will join the team are Adams Oshiomhole as Deputy, the Minister of State for Labour and Employment, Festus Keyamo (SAN).
A former Lagos State Commissioner of Information and Strategy in Lagos, Dele Alake; and the Publisher of PM news, Bayo Onanuga; have all been appointed spokesmen for the APC campaign council.
It is gathered that the appointments are subject to President Muhammadu Buhari and the APC National Working Committee (NWC) .
The decision was made at a meeting held in Abuja on Monday. In attendant were APC presidential candidate, Bola Tinubu; his running mate, Senator Kashim Shettima; and some APC governors.
Governor Nasir El-Rufai of Kaduna State, who was earlier tipped to be the campaign DG but was dropped because of his religion, had refused to disclose who was selected to lead the ruling party’s campaign while speaking to newsmen on Monday.
A source told Vanguard that Governor Lalong is the choice of the governors for campaign council DG, with Oshiomhole as his deputy.
Those pushing for Lalong argued that the APC needs a Northern Christian as DG to assuage the feelings of Northern Christians in the party, following the Muslim-Muslim ticket of the party.
“The media department of the APC campaign council will be run by a triumvirate of directors, made up of Dele Alake as director of strategic communications, Bayo Onanuga, director of media and publicity, and Festus Keyamo, director of public affairs and chief spokesman,” the source said.
