Interestingly, the incumbent President of The Gambia, President Adama Barrow has won his re-election bid in the just-concluded presidential election of Saturday, 4th December 2021.
With this win, President Barrow of the National People’s Party has cemented his stay in the State House of ‘The Smiling Coast of Africa’ for a second term.
The results declared by the Independent Electoral Commission (IEC) shows that Adama Barrow was miles away from his closest contender and major opposition figure, Ouisanou Darboe of United Democratic Party (UDP). Other contestants followed in the pecking order.
Whether opposition parties will fault the results is still unclear. With this elections, The Gambia has extended its 70-year-long streak of multiparty elections.
