Cape Town Emerges Foremost City In The World

 

South Africa was named the “Best Country” and its historic metropolis, Cape Town, was named the “Best City in the World” at the recent 2023 Telegraph Travel Awards.

 

 

 

Kgomotso Ramothea, South Africa Tourism’s Acting Hub Head for UK and Ireland Hubs said in a statement on Friday.

 

 

 

 

According to her, the rainbow nation remained a land of incomparable beauty and a rich cultural legacy.

Ramothea described the remarkable awards, which were chosen by 27,000 passionate readers, as a testimonial to South Africa’s unmistakable attractiveness and the lasting influence it has on travellers.

 

 

 

She stated that South Africa’s triumph highlighted its amazing natural vistas, rich biodiversity, and vibrant cultural experiences.

 

 

 

The Telegraph Travel Award is a prestigious platform within the travel industry that celebrates destinations that catch the imagination and leave an unforgettable imprint on visitors.

She said the city’s win as the “Best City in the World” is a resounding affirmation of its status as a global tourism gem.

 

 

 

“From the majestic Table Mountain and stunning beaches to the captivating Cape Winelands and vibrant neighborhoods, Cape Town offers an abundance of experiences that appeal to the senses and nourish the soul.

 

 

“In 2022, South Africa welcomed 303,848 arrivals from the UK and Ireland.

 

“January to May 2023 arrivals from the UK now stand at 164,232 which is a 50.2 percent increase when compared to January to May 2022 arrivals of 109,372,” she said.
