Chairman of Oshodi-Isolo LG, Oloyede Rolls Out Palliatives To Workers

In a bid to cushion the effect of the fuel subsidy removal and the resulting economic challenges, the executive chairman of Oshodi-Isolo local government, Otunba Kehinde Oloyede, has announced a palliative measure for workers.

During a workers forum held at the local government secretariat, Oloyede promised to pay N10,000 to each worker to alleviate their financial burdens.

Expressing empathy for the difficulties faced by the workers, Oloyede assured them that their welfare would always be a top priority for his administration. In addition to the palliative payment, the council chairman also pledged to provide an additional staff bus to ease transportation challenges to and from the office.

Addressing the workers, Oloyede commended the Nigerian Union of Local Government Employees (NULGE) for organizing the forum, stating that it provided an opportunity for robust engagement between the management and the workforce. He further acknowledged the support and dedication of the Council Manager, emphasizing the positive developments witnessed since her assumption of office.

Oloyede urged the workers to increase their efforts in revenue generation for the council, while assuring them of continued support towards their welfare. He also announced plans for an accelerated approval of a health screening exercise and the distribution of additional relief items for both staff and the general populace.

Council Manager, Mrs Iyabode Abosede Ogunyemi, urged workers to live within their means and emphasized the need for regular health check-ups to prevent untimely deaths. She also encouraged workers to support each other during these challenging times, as poverty and depression are prevalent.

In his welcome address, the Chairman of NULGE in Oshodi-Isolo local government, Comrade Aliu Olagoroye, expressed gratitude for the long-awaited workers forum and called on the management to treat workers fairly.

Overall, the promise of a palliative payment and other welfare measures by the Oshodi-Isolo LG Chairman seeks to alleviate the financial strain caused by the removal of fuel subsidy and demonstrates the administration’s commitment to supporting its workforce during these challenging times.
