In the fast-paced world of international development, few individuals stand out as much as Chief Dr. Sir Emmanuel C. Ogbonna, the renowned evaluator and consultant who has left an indelible mark on the projects undertaken by the World Bank Group. His journey to the prestigious position of an individual consultant at the World Bank Group is not only inspiring but also a testament to his unwavering commitment to fostering positive change.

 

 

 

 

 

Chief Dr. Sir Emmanuel C. Ogbonna’s association with the World Bank Group began in March 2018. His appointment to be an individual consultant reflected his capability. Even the international community recognised his exceptional skills, extensive experience, and deep understanding of the complexities of development issues.

Some of Chief Dr. Ogbonna’s primary duties were consultation services rendered in Dakar, Senegal, Madrid, Spain and Johannesburg, South Africa. Audit the Katsina state government agency’s compliance with the World Bank’s financial regulations on project implementation on the Nigeria Sustainable Urban and Water Supply Sanitation and Hygiene Program. Provided the budget estimate and critical financial analysis on the implementation of the Wadata project in Katsina state. A joint partnership between the State government of Katsina and the World Bank. Track the compliance of the World Bank’s financial regulations by the State government agency’s on the construction of Primary and Secondary health care facilities in Katsina and Borno state. His meticulous approach to project evaluation, coupled with a keen understanding of cultural nuances made him stand out.

A few of his most notable achievements were the successful accountability and conformity with the World Bank’s budget implementation preventing the diversion of over $1.5 billion. They gain in confidence increased the number of joint partnerships with the World Bank including the $20 million Ruwan Sanyi scheme with the Katsina state government helping farmers planting multiple crops (from maize to wheat, cabbage, potatoes and tomatoes) from the increase and modernization of water irrigation systems. The world bank funding for Water irrigation also extended to Niger and Yobe state in addition to the construction of the Tiga, Challawa and Bagauda Dam.

Chief Dr. Sir Emmanuel C. Ogbonna’s expertise extended beyond the agriculture, as he also contributed significantly to evaluating projects in healthcare, education and infrastructure development. His holistic approach to project evaluation emphasized the interconnectedness of various sectors and the need for integrated solutions to address complex challenges.

Ogbonna has been awarded in different areas which include award of Excellence from Oboama Community Ezinihitte Mbaise, award of Excellence from Lagwa Development Union Abuja Branch, award of Honor from Rotary club of Nigeria (Ojodu Lagos), award of Honor from St. Michael Catholic Church Lagwa, award of Excellence from Abuja Chamber of Commerce, award of Honor from Nigeria in Diaspora Indonesia, among others. These accolades highlighted not only his individual achievements but also the positive ripple effects of his work in the lives of people alleviating poverty and promote sustainable development.
