Nigeria’s former Minister of Information and a prominent chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Prince Tony Momoh, has linked the 2020 prophecy of Pastor TB Joshua to the outbreak of coronavirus.
In an interview with the newspaper Daily Sun, Momoh expressed optimism that Nigeria’s resilient citizens would bounce back from the economic backlash caused by the pandemic but agreed it had humbled mankind.
“There was a prophecy that in 2020, man will be humbled,” the veteran politician stated, referencing Joshua’s declaration that 2020 would be a ‘year of humility’.
“I am not sure if he (TB Joshua) knew it will come in this dimension,” he continued. “Man has been acting God over the years, but now, we are really being humbled. This is a disease that does not know race, religion or wealth.”
Momoh stated that although the disease was not “as serious as malaria or lassa fever”, it had “brought the whole world to its knees” and grounded the world economically.
“Those who have been acting God now know that God is in charge,” he asserted, adding that he hopes Nigeria would learn valuable lessons from the COVID-19 outbreak.
“Everything that happens in nature is a challenge that you should thank God for. You don’t avoid challenges; we thank God for challenges of this nature. Ebola came and we were able to overcome it,” he concluded.
On December 28th 2019, TB Joshua released a series of prophetic messages for 2020 which he termed “the year of humility”.
“This year, the Lord will humble us with our challenges. Challenges can be affliction,” he told congregants. “To humble us with these is for those things to destroy us or expose us. Let us move closer to God.”
In the same message, Joshua warned of worldwide “economic backlash” and spoke of a hidden sickness surfacing that would lead some “to become bedridden and many will not make it”.
