Hundreds of Hausa youths and Niger nationals were spotted at the popular Abattoir market in Lagos waiting to join the next trailer leaving for the North after offloading tons of cows brought from that part of the country.
Our correspondent asked about the gatherings of these youthful Hausas and was informed that they were running away because of the coronavirus epidemic.
In actual fact, one begin to wonder if the Covid spread is only in Lagos, it is a global trend and so as it is in Lagos, its also in the North but the actual reasons these men are living Lagos is because most of them are engaged in commercial activities greatly affected by the lockdown viz a viz the stay at home order which these Hausas are not prepared for.
Hence, the need for them to hurry back to their Northern abode rather than keep staying in Lagos where the law is more adhered to and which is seriously affecting their businesses and pockets.
Recall that a lot if these youths, having been brought from the North by trailers coveting cows, pigs, foodstuffs etc almost immediately took off menial jobs like okada riding, hawking of fruits, water, foodstuffs, engaging in mobile tailoring, barbing and so on. These jobs they did in order to make quick feeding money. But with the sudden halt to business activities in Lagos their seemingly greener pasture, they have to move back to their former abode where they understand the systems better.
