He said that to whom much is given, much is expected therefore said that with the promotion comes responsibilities.
With promotion comes more responsibilities for instance an Inspector promoted to ASP will find it difficult to dodge his responsibilities an would be be made to account for actions.
He said that the phrase “you ought to have known” is highly impregnated and advised the officers to stay away from being told such by shouldering up to their responsibilities.
He urged the officers to be lenient when dealing with civilians and should avoid using power arbitrarily and observe fundamental human right.
He advised the newly promoted to endeavour to supervise the men under their sphere of control which was a very important element in ensuring good organisation.

“Those on the field will be decorated by their sectional commanders and operational head,” he said.
Odumosu said that some duty post are associated to some ranks but it now depends on the personality now of the officer to be deployed into any duty post is by the pedigree of that officer and the ability to discharge the responsibility of that office.” I will advised the newly promoted officer not let the nation down because Nigeria is giant of Africa “.
DCP AA Mohammed said that one of the challenges that came with promotion was that an officers can be held vicariously liable for the inability to supervise their men as well.
You should know that as you are ascending in ranks, more responsibilities will be added which will now judge your actions by your rank for the inability to supervisor your men.
He said that as senior officers, punishment will be commensurate to the rank you are wearing. “Also as a senior officers when treating civilians always bear in mind that you have relatives who are civilians and one day you will became civilian,”. He added.

DCP Etim wished them and advised them to steer clear of actions and inactions that will warrant them been issued queries especially for those that were promoted to Assistant Superintendent Police (ASP)
