Dapo Abiodun Escapes Assassination Attempt

The All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship candidate in Ogun State, Prince Dapo Abiodun has escaped assassination.

Comrade Tunde Oladunjoye, Publicity Secretary, APC, Ogun Caretaker Committee in a statement revealed that;

“We wish to bring it to the notice of the general public that a planned attack on the campaign train of Prince Dapo Abiodun was this afternoon foiled by security men and our teeming supporters in Abeokuta, the state capital.”

“The hoodlums was led by a serving member of the House of Representatives, who is also a House of Reps candidate of the Allied Progressives Movement (APM), a Party being sponsored by the Ogun State Governor, Senator Ibikunle Amosun. “

“The urchins mounted a barricade, brandishing guns and other dangerous weapons, and ready to attack our members, particularly the governorship and deputy governorship candidates, Prince Dapo Abiodun and Engineer (Mrs) Noimot Oyedele respectively, who were approaching on a mobile podium.”

“We commend the courage of our supporters who trooped out in their thousands in Abeokuta today and the security personnel in our entourage; the SSS, Police and members of the Civil Defence, whose presence overwhelmed the attackers and they eventually took to their heels, while the campaign continued in a festive mood.”

“Earlier this morning, we gathered intelligence report that, due to the growing popularity of Prince Dapo Abiodun in Ogun State, especially the way he was received by an unprecedented crowd of people yesterday during his ward-to-ward tour of Abeokuta North Local Government, a meeting was hurriedly called last night, during which it was decided that the APC governorship candidate should be assassinated via stray bullet.”

“It was also decided at the said meeting that seven elected local government Council Chairmen and many of their councillors labeled as being loyal to the APC and supporting Prince Dapo Abiodun, should be sacked today via an announcement on government-owned state television and radio stations, OGTV and OGBC respectively.”

“It would be recalled that, our party had some weeks back, raised alarms about the plan to increase smear campaign against Prince Dapo Abiodun and also attack his campaign convoy. The Party not only called for investigation, but actually demanded that the Inspector General of Police should set up an independent panel to investigate and report to him directly, the recent escalating political violence in our once peaceful state.”

“We want to assure the general public that we shall remain resolute in our non-violent campaign, while urging the masses of Ogun State not to be scared or intimidated. The 2019 elections in Ogun State would be determined by votes and not bullets.”

“We are again calling on President Muhammadu Buhari to show concern and call Governor Amosun to order.”
