Dapo Abiodun, Sanwoolu Set Up ‘Joint Development Commission’ to boost IGR
*Ogun Gov Elect Discloses At Strategic Meeting With MAN
The Ogun state Governor-elect, Prince Dapo Abiodun has hinted that his administration and that of his counterpart in Lagos state, Babajide Sanwo Olu have resolved to establish a “Joint Development Commission” to, among others work towards boosting the Internally Generated Revenue (IGR) of both states and also enhances the transformation of the border areas of the two neighboring states.
Abiodun who spoke yesterday pledged that improved security and upgrading of infrastructures would be among the focus of his government.
He spoke at a “Strategic meeting” he held with the state chapter of the Manufacturers Association of Nigeria (MAN) and other members of the organized private sector at the factory of the Flour Mills in Agbara, Ado-Odo-Otta local government of the state.
He told the gathering which included Group Managing Director of Flour Mills of Nigeria PLC, Mr. Paul Gbebedo and other business chieftains “I have known the governor-elect in Lagos state, Babatunde Sanwo Olu for a long time and we have both agreed to set up a Joint Development Commission to enhance transformation at our border areas and also to enhance the IGR of the state.”
He also used the medium to highlight some of the programmes that he would implement as soon as his sworn-in, disclosing that he would revive the Ogun State Road Maintenance Agency (OGROMA) within 100 days in office to take care of roads in the state, build industrial parks and also establish farm settlements across the three senatorial districts.
The governor elect noted that his adminstration would ensure that all uncompleted projects by the current administration are completed because Ogun State tax payers money have been invested in such projects.
”Any uncompleted projects by the outgoing governor will be completed during my administration, he assured.
He stated that his government would provide conducive environment for businesses to thrive by providing adequate security and “Critical infrastructure”.
The chairman of the state branch of MAN who is also the Managing Director, Rite foods Limited, Mr Saleem Adegunwa assured that MAN would work “hand-in-hand” with the government to construct Atan -Agbara carriage road.
His words ”We are really excited about the presence of the governor elect, because we believe his administration will favour us”
He urged Dapo Abiodun to provide an enabling environment for all companies in Agbara.
”It is when there is enabling environment that we can be able to generate more funds for the government” he added.
Also the group Managing Director, Flour Mills of Nigeria PLC, Gbadebo called on the governor elect to meet with the members of the organized private sector in Ogun State to know their needs and map out a way of synergizing their various efforts to achieve industrial and economic growth for Ogun State.
He told the Governor-elect ”We are encouraged because we see this singular act as a clear indication of your willingness to buckle down and partner with the manufacturing sector, take on the challenges of harnessing the true potentials that we believe are inherent in the State”
Among the dignitaries that accompanied the governor elect were the deputy governor-elect, Engr Mrs Noimot Salako-Oyedele, SDP gubernatorial candidate, Otunba Rotimi Paseda, former deputy governor in the, Prince Segun Adesegun, Immediate past commissioner for youth and sports, Mr Afolabi Afuape, Senator Obadara, Hon. Babatunde Olaotan among others.
