Diya celebrates Osinbajo at 64

Former Vice President, Lt Gen. Oladipo Diya (rtd) has described Prof Yemi Osinbajo, the Vice President of the country as a child of destiny and inspiration of a generation who has continued to use his remarkable career to impact innumerable lives positively through decades of exemplary servitude.

The former Vice President during the military regime of Late Gen Sanni Abacha said that Prof Osinbajo might have not been born great, but there is no doubt that the Vice President has achieved greatness in a most remarkable way.

He described the Professor of Law as highly brilliant, cerebral, sophisticated and humble who always leaves behind indelible mark everywhere he went.

Diya stated this in his felicitation message to the Vice President on the auspicious occasion of his 64 birthday on Monday, copy of which was made available to Nigerian NewsDirect.

The Odogbolu born retired military General said “Osinbajo, a quintessential Omoluabi, started as a lecturer at the University of Lagos at the tenger age of 23. He is a man with the Midas Touch. As a lecturer, he got to the summit by becoming a professor. As a Lawyer, he reached the peak by virtue of being a SAN.

“As a Statesman, he is currently the Vice President. He pastors a Church and had used his knowledge of law and governance, among others for humanity. I celebrate your passion for selfless leadership today and wish your strength is renewed to further serve humanity in the new year and years to come.”

Speaking on the state of the Nation, Diya said, “In the spirit of the Vice President’s birthday celebration, I wish to implore Nigerians to eschew violence in all its ramifications. The rumours of war always justifies armament. Armament itself heightens the possibility of war. As a result, we must learn from history. We must avoid a repeat of mistakes of the past. Peace is all we need.”

He explained further that “political elite must play by the rules and observe the thin line that separate politics from governance.Security matters should not be toyed with on the alter of politicking. Hate speech, fake news, as well as inciting ethnic-religious acts should be completely eradicated.

“Every Nigerian must play their roles to ensure that the President Muhammadu Buhari- led governemnt conquer, banditry, kidnapping, and other acts of violence, especially the farmer-herder conflict.”
