Dr. Dikwa: A victim of character assassination by political desperadoes
M.S Abubakar
Let me start by reminding Nigerians that Dr. Mohammaed Kyari Dikwa, mni, retired from the federal civil service as a permanent secretary with one outstanding parting gift that is usual in Nigeria—a certificate of meritorious service from the government. This exceptional son of Borno, who happens to be the scion of a renown Islamic scholar in Dikwa, was at one time the Accountant General and permanent secretary of the ministry of finance in Borno State; he was the first person to act as Accountant General and Perm Sec at the same time. As God will have it, the late Mala Kachalla lost elections in 2003 and Dr. Dikwa joined the federal civil service as deputy director in 2003 and rose through hard work to become permanent secretary in 2018.
In today’s world, where information spreads like wildfire, it is not uncommon for false news and rumors to circulate. Recently, a story has been making rounds in the media claiming that Dr. Dikwa, was involved in money laundering in a house in Apo. However, this news is untrue and unfounded. It is wrong to drag Dr. Dikwa’s name into this matter for whatever reason. Reading through People’s Gazette’s campaign of calumny, I discovered a carefully crafted plan to discredit the moral standing of Dr. Dikwa as pious husband and family man.
The accusation made by Peoples Gazette against Dr. Dikwa is based on hearsay and lacks any concrete evidence to support it. It is important to note that such unfounded allegations can cause irreparable damage to a person’s reputation, and therefore, I challenge People’s Gazette to produce any concrete evidence to support their claims. In the absence of such evidence, it is important that we refrain from making baseless accusations and give due respect to individuals’ reputations and rights to privacy.
It is commendable to note that throughout his tenure in the civil service, Dr. Dikwa was never linked to any corrupt practices. This is a rare feat in a country where corruption has become so pervasive that it seems almost impossible for public officials to stay clean. Dr. Dikwa’s record of integrity and transparency in the civil service speaks volumes about his character and commitment to public service. He is a role model for other public officials to follow, and his legacy will undoubtedly inspire generations of civil servants to prioritize ethical conduct in their service to the nation. It is essential that we celebrate and honor individuals like Dr. Dikwa, who serve their country with honor and integrity, and set a positive example for others to emulate.
It is unfortunate that some desperate politicians lobbying for political office have chosen to engage in unsavory tactics in an attempt to tarnish the sterling records of Dr. Dikwa, a respected public figure. These politicians see Dr. Dikwa as a threat to their political aspirations and have resorted to using blackmail to undermine his reputation. It is disheartening to see that some political candidates prioritize their personal ambitions over the well-being of the community they claim to represent. However, it is important to recognize that Dr. Dikwa’s reputation and accomplishments speak for themselves, and such baseless attacks will not diminish his contributions to society. It is imperative that we hold our leaders to the highest standards of integrity and honesty, and reject any attempts to smear the good name of public servants like Dr. Dikwa.
Dr. Dikwa is a renowned architect of Nigeria’s financial reforms and has made significant contributions towards saving wastage in the country. With a doctorate in Public Financial Management, he possesses a wealth of knowledge and expertise in the field, which has helped him to implement effective measures that have yielded positive results. Through his tireless efforts, he has been able to develop and implement policies that have resulted in the reduction of wastage in Nigeria’s financial system. His dedication towards ensuring financial stability in the country has earned him the respect and admiration of many around the world. Dr. Dikwa’s contributions towards the financial reforms in Nigeria have been instrumental in driving economic growth and development in the country. Dr. Dikwa is a man synonymous with public service in Nigeria and he is the epitome of probity and fiscal discipline in public service. His ingenuity through the TSA, GIFMIS, IPPIS, PICA, and numerous other public financial instruments are still adding value to the Nigerian financial management.
Dr. Dikwa’s retirement from civil service in 2019 has not weakened his commitment to making a positive impact in society. Instead, he has shifted his focus towards educational development, charity, and religious scholarship. His dedication to these causes has been remarkable, and he has made significant strides in improving the lives of many. Through his educational initiatives, Dr. Dikwa has provided opportunities to underprivileged children to access quality education. His charitable efforts have supported vulnerable groups, including the elderly, orphans, and those affected by natural disasters. Furthermore, his religious scholarship has enlightened many on the teachings of Islam, contributing to the promotion of peaceful coexistence. Dr. Dikwa’s selfless service to society is an inspiration, and his contributions will undoubtedly have a lasting impact on the communities he serves.
False accusations can have severe consequences for individuals and their families. In this case, Dr. Dikwa’s reputation has been tarnished by the baseless allegations made against him. He may face difficulties in his professional and personal life as a result of these accusations, even though there is no evidence to support them.
Journalists have a responsibility to report the truth and avoid sensationalism or baseless accusations. In this case, Peoples Gazzete failed to uphold this responsibility by publishing an article that lacked any concrete evidence or sources to support its claims. Such irresponsible journalism can have severe consequences for individuals and society as a whole.
Media outlets that publish false or baseless accusations should be held accountable for their actions. In this case, Peoples Gazzete should retract its article and issue an apology to Dr. Dikwa for the harm caused by its baseless accusations. Furthermore, media outlets should be subject to legal action if they publish false or defamatory content.
In conclusion, it is disheartening to see how some individuals resort to unethical and illegal means such as blackmail to bring down someone who is making a positive impact in society. Dr. Dikwa’s shining qualities and contributions should be celebrated and appreciated, not feared and threatened. It is important for us as a society to stand up against such behavior and promote a culture of respect and support for those who strive to make a difference. Let us all work towards creating a better world where everyone can thrive without fear of intimidation or coercion. What steps can we take to prevent such incidents from happening in the future? This is a question that we must all ponder upon and find solutions to.
