Edo LG workers protest non-payment of salary arrears (PHOTOS)

Local government workers in Edo state, yesterday, took their grievance over non-payment of salary arrears to the streets.

The protest crippled commercial activities in Benin the Edo state capital.

According to The Punch the aggrieved workers, under the Nigerian Union of Local Government Employees, marched in their hundreds from Five junction to Ring Road before making their way to Sapele road.

The protest has caused a huge gridlock as vehicular movement has been paralysed.

Workers from all 18 local governments in the state are believed to be participating in the protest.

The protesters carried various placards, lamenting the failure of the local government authorities to pay the outstanding salary ranging from two to eighteen months.
