The Joint special forces led by the Intelligence Response team, the Lagos state Police command’s anti-kidnapping Unit, Technical and Intelligent unit of the force under the supervision of the commissioner of Police On Saturday, 10th of June, 2017 arrested one of the most wanted Kidnappers In Nigeria, Chukwudi Dumeme Onuamadike Popularly known as Evans in his , alongside his team members namely Nwosu Chikodi Chukwuma AKA Sudo (42yrs), also the third in command, Suoyo Paul (42yrs) AKA Nwana, Felix Chinemerem (36yrs), Ikenna Emeka (28yrs), Uchechukwu Amadi, Ogechi Amadu. The criminal has been known for kidnapping notable Nigerians in Lagos state, Including the Western, Eastern, South-South, and some northern states.
According to CSP Jimoh Moshood, Evans was first declared wanted in 2013 after he masterminded a kidnap operation Chief Vincent Obianudo, Owner of Young shall Grow Motors in Festac, Lagos which was foiled by the police officer attached to the Business mogul, killed three of the criminals but later lost his life in the process. Evans since then has been on the run, continued his criminal activities and formed a more vicious group.#
Further investigations by the police revealed that Evans and his gang keep their victims kidnapped in 21, Prophet Asaye Close, New Igando, Lagos state until ransom is paid to him , which are in Millions of Dollars. It was also said that he keeps them for up to six to seven months.
During his parade today at the Lagos state Police headquarters, Ikeja, the police revealed that after a fierce gun battle that lasted for several hours, Evans was arrested with his gang in Magodo Estate where Five AK 47 Riffles, One AK-49 riffle, Two double-barrel long, two English pistols, Fifty Nine AK-47 Magazine with ammunition, one-thousand two hundred and seventy two live ammunition of AK-49 (9mm), Five different plate numbers was recovered while other weapons were being recovered from different criminal hideout of the different states.
He was also reported to have acquired two mansions in Magodo GRA phase 2 worth about N300,000,000 (Three Hundred Million naira), he also has two houses in the highbrow area of Accra city in Ghana, among many other properties such as exoctic cars, expensive watches, jewelries and many more.
However, In an interview with the criminal, he claimed he was an importer of Spare parts of Vehicles who was frustrated after his goods worth N20Million was seized by custom officers years back and since then, has adopted kidnapping as a means of survival
