Experts seeks end to insecurity in Nigeria

A renowned security expert, Dr Ona Ekhomu,have advised federal government to quickly adopt aggressive action to address the current spate of crime across the country.

Ekhomu who has indepth knowledge in security analysis spoke at a security conference organise by AISSON security conference & Exhibition 2019,theme: Redefining Nigeria’s Threat Environment, at Muson Centre, Lagos to address the spate of crime ranging from kidnapping, armed banditry, Boko haram and other terrorists act ravaging the country.

According to him there is the need for government through its security agencies to keep Nigeria safe”every Nigerian and visitors is expected to travel safely from one destination to another without any threat”he said.

Speaking further he said that the guarantee for safety is provided for all Nigerian in the constitution.

The security chief, explained that the conference was put together to look into the increase in the rate of insecurity across the country.

Speaking at the conference ASIS board of trustees,ASIS foundation, Dame Victoria Ekhomu,also spoke to journalists raised question on the release of terrorists suspect without adequate monitoring by government.

She noted that the scenario posed great danger to the security well being of the country.

She explained that the release of the suspect look like recycling of terrorists nobody monitor them to know what they are doing,it scared investors for coming into the country.

Dame Victoria said that for experts coming together for this security conference is to proffer solution on how to make Nigeria a better place. “I comment the Inspector general of police (IGP) who make sure terrorists and bandit are arrested,also government should try to work with private security because they have solution and technology, “she said.

The chairman of the conference former Director of General of Nigerian Institute of International Affairs (NIIA) Prof Bola Akinterinwa said kidnappers are not ordinary people but are educated hence the need for government and security agencies to find adequate strategy to stop the menace.

Among the solution proffer to tackle kidnapping and other vices include the use of drones, and also for security agencies to take the war to bush which the major door step of the perpetrators of kidnapping and the Fulani herdsmen who have hold parts of the country to ransom.

Akinterinwa advised federal government to equip police with all necessary tools and do more enlightenment in national security in using professional measure and go digital in security because we are lacking behind the whole world has been digitalize.
