Femi Adeniyi, aka Femi Smokey, the flamboyant brother-in-law to Ondo State Governor Olusegun Mimiko, who is always in the news for wrong reason, is back as usual. However, this time, his offence is very grave, as it has to do with the murder of One Ibikiunle sunkanmi.
Smokey is presently being accused of killing Ondo resident Ibikunle Sunkanmi in a reckless motorcade accident that occurred late Friday night. The accident is said to have taken place in Akure, the Ondo State capital. According to eyewitness drunken Femi Adeniyi, struck Sunkanmi who was on a bike, with his jeep on the Ijapo/Fiwasaye road in Akure, on his way to a night club.
It was gathered that, after the incident, Smokey was forced to take Sunkanmi to Ondo State Specialist Hospital,where the innocent man was pronounced dead minutes after he arrived. We hear Femi Adeniyi fled the hospital,minutes after receiving news of Sunkanmi’s death and till now,his whereabout is not known.
According to SaharaReporter, since the incident happened,Governor Mimiko’s wife Kemi, has bribed several police officers to protect her brother from prosecution. This same source revealed that Governor Mimiko intimidated government workers to not discuss the details of this incident with the public. It has also been learnt that when the public became aware of Smokey’s involvement in Sunkanmi’s death,Governor Mimiko began threatening and intimidating journalists to discourage publication of the story. According to SaharaReporters that the governor and his wife had offered Sunkanmi’s parents the sum of N10 million along with a parcel of land.We hear Sunkanmi has since been buried along Igbatoro road in Akure,while friends and colleagues of Sunkanmi disagreed with the family’s decision to accept cash from Governor Mimiko.
