*ABEOKUTA* – Following his expulsion by the National Working Committee (NWC) of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Senator Buruji Kashamu has insisted that, he remains a bonafide member of the party.
Speaking at a mega rally held at the Party’s secretariat in Abeokuta on Thursday, Senator Kashamu emphasized that, attempt by anybody to expel him from the party is an “efforts in futility”.
The Senator representing Ogun East Senatorial District, noted that he has court order restraining the party leadership from expelling him, enjoining Uche Secondus led PDP to obey the rule of law.
“What is an expulsion? How can you expel a committed party member? The party is not for an individual, I want to authoritatively inform you today that, I, Senator Buruji Kasahmu remain in PDP.
“Aside from that, I have court order that protect me from being expelled by anybody. Any attempt to expel me from the party is efforts in futility”, he stated.
Speaking earlier, the Ogun State PDP Chairman, Engr. Bayo Dayo noted that, any group parading themselves as factional members of the party are operating on illegality.
Engr. Bayo pointed out that, by the virtue of a High court order protecting the mandate of his executives till April 2020, any attempt by the National Working Committee of the party to expel his executives from the party is illegal.
He therefore called on the party leadership to follow due process and allow peace to reign in the party.
“We are abiding with the rule of law. Uche Secondus is operating on illegality. The Nigeria constitution is supreme over the party constitution. I am the authentic chairman, nobody should refer to me as factional chairmen.
“There is a court order protecting the Bayo Dayo led Ogun State PDP exco till 2020, so, Prince Secondus should follow rule of law, except he decided to challenge the authority of Nigerian constitution”.
