Ikorodu fitness festival, a welcome development – Prince Olukunga

 

Global News Reports That The Prince Olukunga, Chairman of Lagos chapter, Nigeria Association For Physical Health Education, Recreational, Sports, and Dance (NAPIER – SD), said that the Ikorodu fitness festival was a laudable one that welcomes development to the community.

Hakeem said exercise is back as both old and young took part in the physical exercise to become fit which is important for them to get away from doctors.

 

“Everyone needs to engage in physical exercise minimum of 10 – 15mins to live a healthy life which should be on regular basis to be energized.

According to him, exercise is the order of the day, which people believe in, with physical exercise people can live longer.

 

“You can see older and younger persons who are fully involved in exercises.

“I will urge individuals to partner with the government because they can not do it alone, we want things to start happening, we need people to be alive in the nation.

 

“I will also advise the youths to be energized, it will help keep them from committing the crime in the society when they engage in such activities like this.

Dr. Abiodun Fatai Abatu, a board member of, Lagos state sports commission, noted that what happened today at the fitness festival was highly impressive and huge and should involve the commission.

 

Abatu said that “with this kind of program, it will create an enabling ground for people to get fit and be able to address some health challenges.

 

“We need to be fit as human beings because when you are fit, you will be able to carry out the daily activities.

 

Secondly, it is only a human who is fit that can engage in other life activities, but when you are not fit to engage with daily activities, then there is a problem, he added.

 

Speaking further, he said that the issue of fitness is central to human stability and human effort. 

 

Fitness helps to address the issue of hypertension, diabetes, high blood, and sugar level, it also gives intellectual stability to be a better person in life, he said.

 

The convener, of the Ikorodu Fitness Festival (IKFF), Tolulope Odufeko said health and wellness advocacy is important to improve the well-being of individual fitness and society.

 

He pointed out that it can also help in taking the youths out of the street, keep their minds out of smoking, and engage them in other positive things. It also provides job opportunities.

 

” We have living corpses on the streets, some are aware of their health conditions and pretend not to be aware while some are not.

 

“This fitness festival featured different physical exercises, first of its kind in Ikorodu division.

 

The event featured warm-up, stretches, circuit cardio, skipping competition, games, and entertainment.
