On the 18th of September, 2018 was joyous day for the successful applicants in Lagos State who were appointed as Notaries Public by the Chief Justice of Nigeria, Walter Onnoghen, GCON as they were sworn in. The Notary Public Swearing In Ceremony was presided over by the Chief Judge of Lagos State, Hon. Justice Opeyemi Oke on the instruction of the Chief Justice of Nigeria to do that.
There were 68 Notaries Public and were made to sit according to their years of Call to the Nigerian Bar. In the morning, they were expected to do Affidavits and left the deponent/signature space unsigned. All the new Notaries were called; swearing in was done together and the Chief Judge, Opeyemi Oke (Mrs.) gave a speech to charge the new Notaries on their responsibilities as Notaries thereafter. Particularly, letting them know that their names were built for years to be where they are now. They should maintain their names and have integrity because it is their names they will see anywhere on the document whether in Nigeria or foreign countries. When it gets time for vote of thanks, one Bashiru, Esq was called to do that being the most senior, but decided that Festus Keyamo SAN should do that since he happened to be the Senior Advocate of Nigeria (SAN). The learned silk, Festus did the vote of thanks on behalf of all the new Notaries. They signed their affidavits and pictures were taken with the Chief Judge.
Our General Counsel, Prince Olumide Akindiya, Esq. expressed his happiness being the youngest at the Nigerian Bar among the new Notaries with one, Emmanuel Oturuhoyi, Esq as we noticed at the swearing in day. To him, it is a huge task on him and he will surely maintain his integrity as he has a lot to contribute in the law profession.
While felicitating with him on his swearing in as Notary Public, in addition, he agreed that he would grace the Nigeria Media Nite-Out Award 2018 event holding on the 23rd of Sept, 2018 (Sunday) at Lagos Airport Hotel, Ikeja. Red Carpet: 2pm & Main event: 3pm. He will be honoured that day as the preferred nominee for the award for Legal Practitioner of the Year. Guest Speaker for the event, Gov.
