These are not best of time in the camp of Rangers international as players are now resorted to beg Good Samaritans in the State for money to eat.
Information reaching SportingLife from team’s camp revealed that the players are being owed five months salary arrears which have made life difficult for them.
It was gathered that the players complained to the club officials that they do not have money to buy food, no money to transport or fuel their cars to training ahead of this weekend Glo League clash against Shooting Stars Sports Club (3SC) of Ibadan at the Nnamdi Azikwe Stadium, Enugu.
A source said some of the players have started boycotting training session while those that attended training did not give more commitment.
It was learnt that the club’s Technical Adviser, Imama Amapakabor also gave some players money to buy food.
“The situation is getting out of hands now because the team is struggling to have all the players for training. Some of them shunned training while few that attended training were unable to give commitment to it,” a source told SportingLife.
“Those of us that watched their training could vividly see that there is no motivation, dedication and passion for the game. The game of football is different from other jobs. You can imagine that things like this are happening when we have a tough game against 3SC in Enugu this weekend. We are begging the state government to come to the aid of the club before it’s beyond control. Despite the five months salary arrears the team is still in 12th position, imaging if the government pays them their money the team can still do more than this.”
SportingLife understands that the State governor Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi on Thursday summoned the State Commissioner for Youth and Sports, Charles Ndukwe, General Manager Ozoh Paul Chibuzor, club’s accountant and Technical Adviser, Imama Amapakabor to brief him on the development.
