The Chief Medical Director, Federal Medical Centre, Idi-Aba, Abeokuta, on Thursday treated members of the fourth estate of the realm to a media luncheon.
The luncheon held at the Telemedicine Multi-purpose hall of the centre was first of its kind in the last three years the CMD assumed office.
Prof. Adewale Musa-Olomu thanked the media practitioners for their supports through objective reportage, noting that since assumption of office, the centre has witnessed unprecedented progress, calling for full commitment from the staff to take the hospital to enviable height.
The Surgeon noted that, the luncheon would further cement the symbiotic relationship with the media and creates opportunity to rub minds together.
The luncheon also witnessed presentation of Award of Excellence to the CMD by National Youth Council of Nigeria (NYCN), Abeokuta South local government branch.
The youths said the award was in recognition of his enduring legacies and unprecedented achievements recorded in the hospital in the last three years.
NYCN maintained that, the successes recorded were made possible because of Prof. Musa-Olomu’s preparedness and desire to work.
Responding, Prof. Adewale Musa-Olomu thanked the youths group, assuring them of his continued support to the youths constituency at any given opportunity, describing them as leaders of tomorrow.
The CMD who used the occasion to reel out his achievements equally assured residents of the state and Nigerians of improved healthcare services to the people in line with international best practices.
Some of the achievements include; acquisition of 170 hectares of land for the proposed University of Medicine & Medical Sciences, procurement of 25 new modern beds for accident and emergency unit, procurement and installation of digital X-ray Machine CT Scan machines at the radiology department while efforts were being intensified to acquire MRI machine.
Others include; recruitment of highly skilled healthcare professionals ranging from consultants, Nurses, Medical officers, Porters, health attendants including other experts to further impact effective service delivery and facilitation and installation of eight ATM facilities among numerous achievements.
