A charitable and philanthropic market leader in Amuwo Odofin Local Government Area of Lagos State, Chief (Hon.) Mrs Nonye Ukaegbu , popularly called Hajia Ikenga, has endorsed Engineer Dr. Valentine Buraimoh for a second term as council chairman.
Hajia Ikenga, who is the Co-ordinator of Abibatu Mogaji International Market in Amuwo Odofin Local Government and a younger sister of an influential Architect and market developer, Chief Gilbert Okereke, was elated while chanting four plus four songs to the admiration of the political leaders in Amuwo Odofin Local Government, as she led members of her non-governmental organisation, Hajia Ikenga Foundation to the Council Secretariat, yesterday, for her endorsement of Engineer Dr. Valentine Oluwaseyi Buraimoh for another four years of good governance in the elitists local government, Amuwo Odofin.
Recall that the Lagos State Independent Electoral Commission, LASIEC, has announced its readiness to conduct council polls across all the 57 local council areas in 2021, hence the political firmament in the State, especially at the grassroots, is charged.
In her speech, Mrs Nonye described her foundation’s mission to the Council Secretariat as a divine visit to announce to the incumbency at the local government of her foundation’s readiness and that of the Apex hierarchy of the Ndigbo in Amuwo Odofin Local Government , including the market leaders to cast their weights behind the council boss for a return to the 41 road Council Secretariat in Festac Town , come 2021.
In her comments, the energetic Hajia Ikenga metarphorically addressed Engineer Valentine Buraimoh as ” an Eagle” and his detractors as “a crow”, who she said their stock in trade is to ” sit on the Eagle’s back and bite its neck.”
She implored the Council Chief to prepare for the new heights; free himself from the whimps and caprices of those who she called ” small sizes” and keep climbing up.
While responding, Engineer Valentine thanked Mrs Nonye who as a peace- loving business tycoon and a bridge builder, has taken a bold step as the first stakeholder within the market circle in the local government and led by example by publicly identifying with the success story of the present council administration, as well as declaring supports for another well deserved tenure in office of the Buraimoh- led administration.
