In fufillment of its electoral promises, the Prince Dapo Abiodun-led government is set to build new standard fire stations in Ogun state.
Gov Abiodun stated this while inspecting new fire trucks bought for the State Fire Service in Abeokuta, the State capital.
Governor Dapo Abiodun said he has also approved the construction of two fire stations in Ifo Local government and another one at Isheri North in Obafemi/Owode Local Government.
Prince Dapo Abiodun said his administration has taken stock of the existing fire stations across the state and found a gap to be filled.
He further disclosed that his administration is embarking on a comprehensive rehabilitation of fire stations across the state.
Abiodun noted that the rehabilitation of the fire stations is important as the buildings in most of the stations are no longer habitable.
“They are clearly unbefitting”, he stated, adding that his administration has almost completed the total rehabilitation of all the fire stations that existed before he took over the governance of the State.
The governor who also noted that apart from ordering for the new fire trucks, his administration had also refurbished the existing fire trucks.
“I have approved the construction of two fire stations in Ifo Local government; I have approved for a new fire station in Isheri North, which is Obafemi Owode area and we are relocating one that is somewhere around Mowe-Ibafo so that it is more visible and we are rebuilding it.
“This is one of the fire trucks that we have ordered. It is in line with our electoral promise to our people.
“What we have done to date is to take stock of the existing fire stations across the length and breath of the state. You need to have seen the current state of those fire stations. I am not sure those fire stations have seen any form of rehabilitation since they were built; they are unbefitting,” he said.
