Following the much-awaited celebration of the 40th anniversary of Ogun State, a former gubernatorial candidate of Unity Party of Nigeria (UPN), Otunba Olatunde Rotimi Paseda has described its rulership as “personalized governance”, just as he called Otunba Gbenga Daniel, as one of the best governors of the state since creation in 1976.
Paseda who spoke at the New year party organized by Imole group foundation, Ijebu-Itele, noted that the state had not been well governed because each administration that came in to power since the establishment of the state had refused to build on existing projects of the previous administrations.
Paseda who attributed poor governance of the state in the past years to hatred and godfatherism among politicians and political parties, promised to change the face of politics through what he termed ‘faceless politics’ if elected as governor come 2019.
His words: “I am going to change the face of politics in Ogun state and perhaps in Nigeria, because I am going to practice a faceless, religion less, greedless and culture less politics in the state.”
The business mogul cum politician however described the immediate past governor of the state, Otunba Daniel as one of the best governor the state had produced.
He expressed displeasure over the projects of the incumbent Governor, Senator Ibikunle Amosun, saying such projects were misplaced priority.
“He came and started embarking on glorified projects that we don’t need. I believe it is just to show that the president is coming. You don’t embark on a project in order to steal or siphon money, but on project that will benefit the people”.
While speaking, the founder of Imole Group Foundation and a former deputy governor in the state, Alh. Rafiu Ogunleye commended Otunba Rotimi Paseda for his bold step in alleviating poverty in the state through his foundation, Paseda Legacy Foundation.
Alh. Ogunleye therefore urged all politicians to imbibe the spirit of oneness and unity for the betterment of the state.
