Governor Godwin Obaseki of Edo State, Yesterday said the State is taking the lead in a serious task of restoring faith in Nigeria’s democracy “and the entire globe”.
The governor disclosed that his electoral victory also offers opportunity for him “to bridged the gap between a challenged past and a promising future”, Obaseki said.
According to him, “my reelection during the September 19, 2020 governorship poll was the restoration of confidence in democracy and its institutions”.
Obaseki said the election have become a point of reference “on how the will of the people can triumph in a democracy that functions properly”.
The governor stated this at the Samuel Ogbemudia stadium, venue of his swearing-in ceremony for a second term of 4 years.
Obaseki was administered his oath of office alongside his deputy, Hon. Phillip Shaibu by the State Chief Judge, Justice Esther Edigin.
The ceremony had in attendance, Senator Ifeanyi Okowa and Aminu Waziri Tanbuwal, governors of Delta and Sokoto States respectively.
