Gov. Ugwuanyi Set To Host National Peace Award Committee, To Receive Most Peaceful Governor in Nigeria Award
The Executive Governor of Enugu State, His Excellency Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi will on Friday, January 21 host the National Peace Award Committee headed by the President, Dr. Suleiman Adejoh to a dinner at Government House Enugu.
At the event, the governor will be honoured and decorated with the prestigious National Peace Award as the MOST PEACEFUL GOVERNOR IN NIGERIA.
The governor was scheduled to receive the prestigious award at International Conference Centre Abuja in November but for his very tight schedule he apologized and requested for a convenient date.
At the November 13, 2021 event, the Katsina State Governor, His Excellency Rt Hon Aminu Bello Masari was Appointed as one of the patrons of the organization and also awarded as the Most Proactive Governor in Nigeria while the Emir of Bichi, His Royal Highness Alh Nasiru Ado Bayero who is a patron too was awarded as the Most Peaceful Traditional Ruler in Nigeria, The executive governor of Delta state Dr ifeanyi Okowa was honoured as the Best Governor on Youth Empowerment, the FCT Minister of state Dr Ramatu Aliyu Tijjani received the award as the Best Serving Female Minister in Nigeria, she doubles as the Grand matron of peace while his Excellency President Muhammadu Buhari GCOF) is the Grand patron of peace. The event recorded presence of several other dignitaries.
President of National Peace Awards, Dr. Adejoh said the choice of Gov. Ugwuanyi as the Most Peaceful Governor in Nigeria is because of his peace activities and peace advocacy programmes in the South East.
According to Adejoh, the governor has demonstrated competence in promoting peaceful co-existence in Enugu State through various avenues, including mass empowerment of young people, infrastructural renewal and putting Enugu on the map of development.consistency in peace and conflict resolution strategy he embarked upon always .
“After the award presentation, the governor will go down the history as the best governor Enugu has ever had. Other responsibilities can be accorded to Governor Ugwuanyi in the project 2023 because he has the capacity to united the country .
“With the national election coming up in Nigeria, if anything is to be zoned to the South East, then His Excellency governor Ugwuanyi should be considered for such position.
“He is simple, he is performing, he is down-to-earth, he has contributed immensely for the entrenchment of peace in the south east by extension Nigeria and that is what we need for Nigeria to move forward” he said.
