Governor Bago Condems Robbery Attack At Emir”s Palace
Niger State Governor, Mohammed Umaru Bago, has condemned the robbery attack on the cashier of the Emir of Minna, Ibrahim Sani
He also charged security agencies in the state to investigate and fish out the criminals to face the wrath of the law.
The governor in a statement by his Chief Press Secretary, Bologi Ibrahim, described the incident as unfortunate and the height of disregard to traditional institution.
He noted that his administration will not fold its hands and allow criminals to inflict pains and sorrow on innocent residents of the state.
The statement said, “this is highly unfortunate to have this kind of situation not just in the state capital but at the Emir’s Palace.
“My administration will not condone this act. I charge the security agencies to investigate and fish out the criminals with a view to prosecuting them”.
Bago who sympathized with the Emir of Minna, Umar Farouk Bahago over the robbery attack, prayed God to grant the two Palace Aids quick recovery.
It was gathered the incident occurred at about 2:30pm, today when a gang of about five armed robbers allegedly trailed the Minna palace cashier with a Toyota camry vehicle from a commercial bank where he went to withdraw some amount of money.
The Emir, Alh. Farouk Bahago was said to be in the palace while the armed men shot sporadically into the air to scare people away before they snatched the money and disappeared from the scene.
When contacted, the state police Public Relations Officer, PRO, DSP Wasiu Abiodun said the cashier is undergoing interrogation at the Police Area Command office, Minna with a view to ascertain the details of the incident, as investigation is ongoing to get to the root of the matter
