A socio-political group, Ogun-West Renaissance Front, has asked the Ogun State Governor, Ibikunle Amosun, not to marginalise the Ogun-West senatorial district in his plan to create Local Council Development Areas in the state.
The group, in a statement signed by its President, Yemi Akinola; and Secretary, Kolawole Ajayi, on Tuesday, claimed it had credible information that the governor plans to create seven LCDAs within the senatorial district.
The group said creating seven of 32 LCDAs within the senatorial district would amount to marginalisation of the district.
The group is demanding that, at least, 10 LCDAs should be created within the senatorial district.
The group said, “Amosun’s plans show that the Ado-Odo/Ota and Yewa-North councils would produce two LCDAs each while Yewa-South, Ipokia and Imeko-Afon councils would each produce one LCDA, making seven for the Ogun-West senatorial district.”
The group said doing this would further marginalise the people of the senatorial district.
It said the plan would betray the massive support he got during the 2015 governorship election in the senatorial district.
The group recalled that despite the presence of two eminent Yewa-Awori sons in the governorship race, Amosun, who hails from Ogun-Central senatorial district, scored over 40 per cent of votes cast in all the five local government areas in Ogun-West.
The statement partly read, “Amosun’s purported plans would be illegal, unjust and illogical as Ogun-West remains the largest contributor to the soaring Internally Generated Revenue of the state. The senatorial district is the next to Ogun-Central in terms of population and land mass.”
