A social political group, Diaspora Network for Good Governance, yesterday, congratulated the Governor of Edo State. Godwin Obaseki for his resounding victory at the September 19th, 2020 poll.
In a statement signed by the Coordinator worldwide, Comrade Oseghale Joshua Junior, said Obaseki has been able to display and finally bury godfatherism in the annals of politicking in the state.
The group said since Edo State has become a pacesetter in letting the people choose their candidate as exemplified in the last governorship election, it is expected that same will be replicated in the forthcoming local government election few months from now.
He said it is now viewed worldwide that Obaseki has assumed that stage as a proponent of modern Democracy, a feat members of the group is sincerely proud of both home and abroad.
The Diaspora Network for Good Governance also used the opportunity to call on those working with the governor to redouble their effort in ensuring the name already made by the state governor is not tarnished especially in the area of electing those to represent the people in the local government administration level.
The Coordinator, Oseghale, however said they are looking forward to the inauguration of the second tenure of the governor nicknamed “wake and see”, which of cause, will be a launch pad for total end of godfatherism and the first test for popularity for those to be elected into any of the elective positions in the Edo State House of Assembly, House of Representatives, Senate and local government councils.
