Gunmen abducts 3 Lagos police officers on special duty in ogun

Gunmen have reportedly kidnapped three policemen this afternoon at Wasinmi, Ewekoro Local Government Area of Ogun State.

Our correspondent gathered that the victims who had visited Ogun State from Zone 2, Onikan, Lagos State, for an investigation, were abducted in broad daylight, reports Daily Trust.

Sources said the cops were duly booked at the police division in Wasinmi before they left for their place of assignment.

The officers, led by Inspector Oladipo Olayemi, were abducted by the gunmen who waylaid them at about 2:30pm.

Our correspondent further gathered that the commercial driver, who conveyed the officers escaped by a whisker.

Operatives of the State command led by the Divisional Police Officer at Ewekoro have launched a manhunt for the abductors.

The Police spokesman, Abimbola Oyeyemi, confirmed the abduction, but said “only one policeman is involved.“

“We are on the trail of the kidnappers. Do you think we are going to keep quiet? We will get them and rescue the victims unhurt,” he said.
