Hope Alive Foundation commemorates 2021 World Diabetes Day By Ifeoma Ikem

Hope Alive Foundation has joined the world to commemorate the 2021 World Diabetes Day which is mark globally every November 14.

Diabetes is one of the major health issues and challenges of the 21st century which is known as Mellitus.

 

It is incurable, it is increasing but it can be preventable as non-communicable disease that affects people of all ages.

According to the World Health Organization (WHO), about 422 million people worldwide have diabetes, the majority living in low-and middle-income countries, and 1.6 million deaths are directly attributed to diabetes each year.

Comrade Steve Nwose, the founder of Hope Alive Foundation, a Non-governmental organization (NGO), said that the NGO was established to assist those who are suffering from diabetes.

He said their goal is to educate and support people who are at risk of diabetes, or who have already been diagnosed on how prevent and manage diabetes.

“Diabetes treatment outcomes are better with education and proper care,’’ he added.

He, however, said it is important for people to understand the disease process through awareness with available resources to manage the burden.

The foundation also promised to conduct as many diabetes screening as possible every year.
