Operatives of the Rapid Response Squad (RRS) of the Lagos State Police Command,arrest unrepentant suspect who had been arrested and charged for Pickpocketing and Stealing in 2017 .
Tunde Ajeigbe 27-years-old, with two of his gang Ekene and Bolenbe,allegedly use a motorcycle to rob members of the public of their valuable around 7up area of the state. Tunde,the ring leader always pose as a passager on the bike to monitor phone user inside a moving commercial buses known as (Danfo) to snatch android phone and zoo off.
The suspect with his gangs luck run out of them immediately they remove a passager phone who raise alarm that attracted a scene that gave a hot chase as they were about to fleed from the spot before the Otedola Bridge and RRS men were alerted on pin down underneath the bridge,then the police men join to chase the suspects forcing them to abandon their motorcycle and ran inside the bush before Tunde was arrested while two others escaped.
In his confessional statement with the police, he confessed to have been arrested for similar offence sometime in 2017 and was charged to court for the crime. ‘I was arrested around Ojota after I snatched a lady phone and got caught by the police’.
‘I was remanded in the prison custody since until 19th of November 2019 I was release but couldn’t go back to my wife and child. I went back to the house I rented before going to prison but couldn’t find my properties and my family again so I went back to Oshodi under bridge to join my friends again who gave assisted me with cloth and food before we went back into our usual business.
Although, I spend some days in Mushin with my area brothers who knew that I was released from prison helped me secure a motorcycle on hire purchase to able take care of myself but that wasn’t enough for me as I wanted to make quick money so that I can go and see my mother in the village after left home for three years now.
My aged mother is worried since I left home without visiting or send message across to her, Infact no one know my whereabout as my wife never informed my family that I have been arrested and remanded in prison.
The other two are at large and the police are still on their trail ,the motorcycle with registration number FST-279 QJ was recovered from the them .
Commenting on the development, the Commissioner of Police Hakeem Odumosu warned all criminal elements in the State to stay off as the Command will not allow any hiding place for them and vow to fetch them out, the case is transferred to Special Anti Robbery squad for further investigations.
