*[ICYMI] Prince Taiwo Oyekan Visits Physically-Challenged People’s Academy, Gifts Food Items, Assorted Carbonated Drinks
In continuation of his Community Reach-Out Initiative, the Deputy Leader of Lagos Island Local Government Legislative Arm and Executive Director of Kolawole Ajibade Oyekan Foundation, Prince Taiwo Oyekan visited Physically-Challenged Persons’ Academy at Ojo-Oba Community, Ward C1, Adeniji Adele Road, Lagos, Nigeria on Monday 28 August, 2023.
Prince Oyekan presented Bags of assorted Food Items, Packs of Carbonated Drinks and Table Water to the People Living With Disabilities (PLWDs) amidst excitement.
The Frontline Council Legislator cum Philanthropist and his Team Members were received with resounding special songs.
While addressing the People Living With Disabilities (PLWDs), Prince Oyekan said that he decided to visit the Academy to uplift and lessen the burdens of the Inhabitants.
“People Living With Disabilities are integral players in the society”. They need care, love and assistance”, The Council Legislator said.
“I came here today to render support where necessary to our friends. I will continue to make myself available to the Academy”, He emphasised.
The Administrator of the Academy, Mr. Bathlomew Ogbonna led Prince Oyekan and officials of Kolawole Ajibade Oyekan Foundation on the tour of the facility.
In his words: “We usually pick vulnerable Physically-Challenged People on the street; both the young and old to train them in formal and informal education so that they can be useful to themselves and the Nation. Sometimes, Parents enrol the PLWDs in the Academy”.
“Some of our students have studied different courses and graduated from the University while those trained in Skills are now independent”, He concluded.
The facility has different Skills Acquisition Training Centres such as Tailoring and Fashion Designing, Shoe Making, Beads Making, Carpentery Workshops and Aquaculture Unit.
Mr. Ogbonna enjoined Prince Oyekan to continue the foundation’s social intervention programme as it will further reassure the vulnerable of acceptability in the society.
