The political tension in the Ijede, Ikorodu area of the Lagos state moved a notch higher over the weekend as suspected hoodlums shot one dead and injured others.
Saharaweekly gathered that the suspected political thugs destroyed the office of the incoming chairmanship aspirant.
Earlier, his posters and banners were all vandalized and removed before the Friday attack where the thugs unleashed violence on him, killing his worker, shattered his windows, removed valuable items, laptops, and cash worth N1.7million.
Honourable, Onamade Oluwatosin, the incoming All Progressive Party (APC) chairmanship aspirant, while addressing pressmen said that he wrote a petition to the Inspector General of Police and APC Chairman Lagos state over threat to his life alleging that since 2019, the younger brother of the incumbent Chairman, one Tope Salius was after his life.
He said his life has been threatened by the same person until six months ago when it became unbearable and he made a report to the party leaders.
“I was told to wait that everything will be settled, three days later no fewer than 35 thugs with the same person who has been threatening my life invaded my office looking for me but unfortunately they met my staff, other persons shooting one dead, brutalized my younger brother who is in a coma right now.
“It was God Almighty that saved my life, I am calling on the Lagos State commissioner of police, CP Hakeem Odumosa for his urgent assistance.
” I also call on President Buhari, the National Chairman of APC, National Assembly, and the Governor of Lagos State, Babajide Sawno-Olu to investigate Alhaji Salisu Fatiu the Chairman of Ijede LCDA and his political thugs to bring the killers of my staff to book’’.
Condemning the attack, Pastor Samson Adesegun, a leader in the community said: `This attack on Hon. Onamade, his brother, and staff are condemnable.
“The death of the deceased whose wife is heavily pregnant is a great loss to all.
A source from the community who did not want his name to be mentioned told our correspondent that it’s terrible how the thugs unleashed terror on the incoming Chairman.
” Things are falling apart in our political system, must politicians engage in thuggery, waste of life and properties’’, he queried.
However, our correspondent reports that Alhaji Salius Fatiu, the Chairman of Ijede LCDA did not pick his calls when Saharaweekly called for his reaction over the incident.
