The Managing Director, Edo State Geographic Information Service (EDOGIS) ESV. (Mrs.) Osaro Grace Aihie, has said without mincing words that within seven months of her assumption of office, she has changed a lot of things within the system of her job.
She gave the assertions while speaking with journalists in her office in Benin City, the Edo State capital.
According to her, since the establishment of (GIS) the office have done over 16, 000 registration of C of Os but since she came in within seven months they have done over 4,000 C of Os and still counting.
“I joined here about seven months ago and since I came in, I will tell you, I have been trying to do a lot of things that will improve here and am trying to change the mindset, trying to change the way they have been doing things and change the processing of C of Os and to also make sure we satisfy people because that is the may reason why we are here.
“We have gone into training, we have gone into changing our ways of working so that we can satisfy our customers.
” We have increased the number of C of Os that we are bringing out. For instance, before now, since the establishment of (GIS), they have done about 16,000 C of Os but as at now since I came, we have done over 4,000 C of Os and we are still on it so far, I will say we are gradually going towards what brought me here.
“To make sure we satisfy members of the public, to ensure that C of O is now done within 30 days if all your papers are complete.
“The first thing about your land is the title because if you do not have the title documents, you do not really have land.
” So, it is good to get your C of O. We are calling on people to conduct researches to be sure that what they are buying is genuine.
Mrs. Aihie advised members of the public to always to try give their land a title which is the C of O and also try to conduct research to know more about the property they are buying adding that, without that, the property investment is as good as useless.
Aihie further asserted that, they are doing this to enable the state governor, Godwin Obaseki to create new town development plan, which is to put the state in the number of developed states in the country.
