Joe Ajaero ; flying the kite of opposition
Sen. Rilwan Adesoji Akanbi
As a prominent member of the 8th Senate in the National Assembly, I can categorically say Ajaero is not fit to lead NLC now and ever.
The NLC at the beginning was indeed hope of the commoners, downtrodden and majority of the working class. Great history students would have learnt about the great exploit and leadership under Late Pa Micheal Imoudu. The late labour leader along with others fought the imperialist leadership during the colonial regime. Same can be said of Alhaji Hassan Sunmonu, a labour leader under the despotic and tyrannical military dictators. Those were men who risked their lives for the betterment of the citizens in general.
The political dispensation developing in Nigeria is with a bi-cameral legislature at the centre. They are empowered to put checks and balances on the executive arm of Government
There is no gainsaying that past government messed up, vandalized and strangulated the economy. The PBAT government is fighting tooth and nail to bring things under control, hence the plea from time to time to the nation.
Ajaero calling for strike all the time is quite unreasonable, unfortunate and mere playing to the gallery.
Ajaero as a foremost labour leader before becoming NLC President should have been a voice for the masses, instead Ajaero was a spokeperson and highly partisan in the 2023 Presidential election where he rooted firmly for Labour Party man H.E Peter Obi. It can be concluded that Ajaero is flying the kite of opposition in order to run down the government of PBAT. Ajaero is a staunch Labour Party member. Can Ajaero be trusted ?
Where was Ajaero when Mr. Godwin Emefiele punished us all with his unnecessary ‘no cash policy’ ? The commoners and downtroddens suffered greatly and many lives were lost.
Where was Ajaero when crude oil ,our commonwealth was sold by last regime into the future ànd multi million dollars were squandered
It can be asked, from whom did Ajaero had his tutelage ? Since 1992, majority of our labour leaders were using the NLC as a steppingstone to Politics, Pascal Bafyau, Adams Oshiomole on my mind. Ajaero is more than welcome to join politics when 2027 comes.
Ajaero must be told that various states labour leaders seem to be focused with the assignment of betterment of the state workers. They have little trust in Ajaero’s leadership. Imagine Ajaero has called for strike four times within the nine months of the PBAT administration.
Though , there is hardship in the land and our economy is struggling but the government of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu should be given a fair chance to stabilize the country and find urgent and cogent solution to the hyper-inflation, banditry , insecurity ,epileptic unstable power supply and high unemployment in the country.
So far, part of our nation debt paid, strategic policies like :
1. Forest guards have been mentioned.
2. Moribund and Comatose Refineries are almost back to life.
3.Reduction with
potential to get to
nought on crude-oil
theft.
4. Release of grains from National Storage in order to cushion the hunger effect.
5. The President,
most strategic and
coordinating
Ministers are
giving
feedback(situation
report) to
Nigerians as at
when due.
6. Effort is ongoing
for the creation of
State Police
We must say NO to any nationwide strike and protest.
We must pray and support the government of the day.
God bless Nigeria.
