JONATHAN BATTLES PASTOR ADEBOYE OVER 2015
+ why the President Felt Betrayed
The once robust romance between President Goodluck Jonathan and Pastor Enoch Adejare Adeboye is allegedly in jeopardy. This is not unconnected to the fact that Daddy G.O as Pastor Adeboye is widely called by his faithful followers has been frolicking with the major players in the opposition party.
The crack became noticeable first when one of his top aides, Prof. Osibanjo, was picked as Mohammed Buhari’s running mate by All progressive Congress. This sparked off a lot of heated controversies. The speculation was fuelled by two major factors. First Akinwunmi Ambode who is also a Redeemed faithful was picked as APC’s Gubernatorial candidate in Lagos which is one of the strongholds the president must win by all means. The second was hinged on the jubilation and congratulatory message sent by the ministry’s twitter handle on the choice of Osibanjo as Buhari’s running mate.
Although, Daddy G.O quickly dispelled the rumour claiming RCCG is not a political tool.
But insiders squealed that the deed has been done as the President who has seen Daddy G.O as a confidant and his spiritual father felt betrayed.
According to our source, the crack became obvious when President Jonathan shunned Redemption camp during their prestigious Holy Ghost congress held in December 2014 as he normally does to kick off his presidential campaign. Rather, he frolicked with the Christ Apostolic Church.
It was reported that Jonathan embarked on a church by church tour ahead of 2015 elections to solicit for support from Christians across the country. And his port of call Christ Apostolic Church, Area 1 in Durumi Abuja where he delivered a political message filled with framed up bible stories.
He compared Nigeria’s suffering to that of the Israelites and said Nigerians did not pass through half of what they passed through.
He also admitted that Nigeria’s problem has been on the increase since he took office over 5 years ago
“One of the reasons I go round churches, at least in Abuja, is to thank my brothers and sisters for the prayers they have been having for the country, the government and I.
“We are facing a lot of challenges now as a nation. The challenges did not start today but somehow, instead of abating, the problems started increasing for one reason or the other.”
“One of the reasons I go round churches, at least in Abuja, is to thank my brothers and sisters for the prayers” – Jonathan said in part.
The last straw that allegedly broke the camels back was when the General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church Of God, Pastor Enoch Adejare Adeboye joined APC Presidential and VP candidates, General Muhammadu Buhari, RCCG Pastor Yemi Osinbajo and the incumbent Governor of Lagos State, Babatunde Raji Fashola at the recently concluded Lagos State Annual Thanksgiving service.
The event that held on Sunday, January 4,2014 at the State House Arena was well attended by officials of All Progressive Party, APC and Lagos State Government, LASG. Governor Amaechi, Adeboye’s wife, Pastor Mrs Foluke Adenike, APC national chairman, John Oyegun were also in attendance.
According to our source, aides from the presidents camp were not too happy that the man their boss always go to for prayers has now seemingly switch over to the opposition party. They claimed that’s why he decided to identify with CAC which is the only pentecostal church in Nigeria that can match RCCG in numbers.
