Kogi State polytechnic students protest hard as truck kills two

 

Students of the Kogi State Polytechnic yesterday blocked the Lokoja section of the Okene-Lokoja-Abuja highway following the killing of their mate  and two other people by a cement-laden truck.

Daily Trust learnt that the truck carrying cement from  Okene   and heading towards Abuja yesterday lost control and rammed into a tricycle and a taxi.

 

A female student of the Department of Science Laboratory Technology (SLT) of the Kogi Polytechnic died in the accident alongside two other passengers while four others sustained injuries.

Following the incident, angry students   blocked the highway around the Felele end, which resorted in a gridlock, and personnel of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) and other security agents had to intervene to clear the road and allow flow of traffic.

The Kogi State Sector Commander of the FRSC, Mr Olusegun Martins, said three people died.
