By Ifeoma Ikem

Lagos All Progressives Congress (APC) leader, Mr Taiwo Alao (Tolani Twins), on Thursday made a critical appraisal of the House of Representatives, describing the 9th Assembly as “the most stable and promising.”

Alao spoke in Abuja on the occasion of the first anniversary celebration of the 9th Assembly.

He emphasized the yearning of Nigerians for quick delivery of the dividends of democracy, dwindling oil revenue and its negative impact on the economy and capacity of government to meet basic commitments.

He described the Speaker of the House of Representatives, Rt Hon Femi Gbajabiamila as a blessing to Nigeria.

The APC chieftain commended Gbajabiamila and other members of the House for maintaining cordial working relationship with the Executive.

“The 9th Assembly has since June 2019 enjoyed a harmonious relationship with the Executive, having so far approved several requests of the president . screening and confirming of nominees for appointment in different positions” he said.

Focusing on accountability and responsibility to the electorate, Alao said “in the 9th Assembly, the will of the people is speedily carried out”.

He advised Gbajabiamila to use the second year of the 9th Assembly to “focus on issues that will move the country closer to the dreams and aspirations of the country’s founding fathers”.

” Gbajabiamila will continue to offer the best representation to the good people of Surulere Constituency 1. He will continue to support government’s effort at guaranteeing peace, security and welfare of all Nigerians . He will continue to put in longer hours in debating and making the laws that would move Nigeria forward”

The astute politician commended Gbajabiamila for encouraging the battle of ideologies and engaging in it openly, honestly, and respectfully.

Specifically, he praised Gbajabiamila’s colleagues and the staff of the National Assembly for their cooperation and contributions to the smooth running of the business of the 9th Assembly

He urged members of the 9th Assembly to closely monitor the implementation of the budget by providing effective oversight,

He also commended local and foreign journalists for their efforts in bringing to the spotlight the activities, deliberations, and resolutions of the 9th Assembly. “
