Lagos Legacy Front Backs LASG For Scrapping Falomo Shopping Deal ” Lagos cannot be traded away in opaque deals which will be detrimental to our future and that of our children”

The Lagos Legacy Front a social organization in Lagos has commended the Lagos State Government(LASG) for the cancellation of the concession granted to Afriland Proerties a company owned by Tony Elumelu. The government described the concession as grossly detrimental to the people of Lagos. The spokesman for the group, Mr. Bashiru Abass wondered how the company paid the huge sum of 50 million Naira as Expression of Interest ONLY and who the other bidders were if in their language the Afriland had indeed conformed to “world best practices”. When was the bidding process for the concession carried out .?

He said further that the whole project and the explanation given by Afriland raises a lot of pertinent questions some of which are: what is the name of the SPV company they claim owns the project? What is the true stake of LASG  Tony Elumelu in the so called SPV company? What is the value of the LASG land pledged for the project? Who is in the possession of the C of O? Afriland owes Lagosians and the entire public answers to these questions.

He also said the The Lagos Legacy Front on behalf of the good people of Lagos had always welcomed investors from all part of Nigeria and foreign investors but would not want Lagos to be shortchanged. In his words “we therefore express our total support for the government of Lagos to ensure that the legacy of the people of Lagos is not traded away in opaque deals which will be detrimental to our future and that of our children”
